Le Corpse Poétique & The Necropolitics of Movement

Acknowledging necropolitics did not not incorporate it into my body of work, nor my body, but witnessed how it was already present. The cultural work comprising Le Corpse Poétique, the title of which is a callback to Jacques Lecoq’s Le CorpsPoétique (The Moving Body): Teaching Creative Theater, cultivated the conditions of possibility for me to connect with my body of work and my body for the first time. It cultivated the conditions of possibility for me to play - not perform - and to care for - not correct - myself.

The circus has a history of playing with incompetence. What this has historically enabled is things such as minstrelsy and the exploitation of disabled and gender nonconforming people. playing with competence
